Greg Schofield is the founding director of Greg Schofield & Associates Pty Ltd , a consulting civil and structural engineering practice based at Glen Iris, Melbourne and his company currently consists of himself as the design engineer and a design draftsperson.

Greg Schofield & Associates Pty Ltd undertakes at least two hundred and fifty separate design contacts per year. Greg Schofield's prime role is detailer and checker of designs. The office is well automated and is a licensed user of Autocad 2000 with Struct Plus, CADECOMP, MLP Steel and Concrete for design of structural elements and SPACEGASS frame analysis.

The aim of the company is: to establish designs that are economical, practical and durable.

The company has developed specialised expertise in the following areas:

  1. Design and documentation of geogrid retaining walls using dry stacked interlocking concrete block facings. The company has been responsible for a 9.6 metre high retaining wall at Australian Defence Industries, Benalla and has provided designs for precast panel retaining walls using geogrid tie backs for the Ringwood by-pass road, Ringwood. The company has designed four retaining walls for Boral Masonry carrying traffic load, up to 10 metres high, at the Melbourne City Link project. Theses walls include a 350 metre long and 8.5 metres high wall at Bell Street Tullamarine Freeway interchange and a 10.5 metre high abutment wall at the Bolte Bridge ramp at Graham Street and Westgate Freeway.
  2. Design documentation of cold formed steel framing for domestic structures. This office has approximately ten years experience for the design for this type of structure.


The office is operating with a certified Quality System to ISO 9001-2000 , audited by CSQC.

Greg Schofield & Associates Pty Ltd aim is to provide a high standard of professional service to its clients and to maintain a high standard of fees even in a competitive environment. Greg Schofield is actively involved with the Association of Consulting Structural Engineers of Victoria (ACSEV), he is the past chairman of the Structural Branch, Victoria Division, Engineers Australia and is currently the National Chair of the Engineers Australia Structural College Board. These organisations encourages its members to maintain a high standard of engineering and to not devalue engineering skills.
